Colourful Kathmandu

So many options for what to post about from today's adventures in greater Patan* and so many random anecdotes, stories and observations to make, BUT it's been a long day, it's getting late, and tomorrow we're off to Malaysia, so instead of any of that you get a couple of colourful shots taken on the other side of the river yesterday in Kathmandu proper. Because this page could use some colour, and the Nepali flag looks cool....

*If you're not familiar with Nepal and missed the earlier clarification, Patan**, or Lalitpur, is technically a separate city from Kathmandu, but is really just the nicest part of the greater Kathmandu area - albeit with way less global name recognition. If forced to come up with a pithy, oversimplified description, we'd call it a combination of Damascus, Delhi and Venice, and mean it in the best way possible.

**Also, it's pronounced Patton (like that one comedian with the weird face that seems both small and big at the same time, or that one American general whose legendary strategery during WWII helped win George C Scott an Oscar for Best Actor in 1971), rather than how you and us and apparently every other foreigner thinks it's pronounced (ie a long ā and stress on the second syllable).
