Travel + Leisure Accidentally Gets Subversive

Nothing says romance like a little murderous payback! © Makalu / Pixabay

We'd always thought Travel + Leisure was just a corporate vanilla, big media sellout with nothing original or interesting to say at all, which only exists to hawk luxury trips 99% of their followers can't afford, BUT the #1 island on this list they posted on Valentine's Day is named for a genocidal colonialist who was killed by natives in Hawaii on Valentine's Day in 1779, and that's pretty cool.

Sure, it's probably just a coincidence, rather than the noble work of a subversive editor, and 'poetic' justice is always a poor substitute for just regular old justice, but we take our amusement where we can get it, especially these days....
