Hottest Cities for 2023 according to travel experts - Istanbul

Istanbul is one of our absolute favourite cities in the world, which is why we try to visit it every single year - this shot was taken from the roof of our apartment near Galata Tower in October 2021

While we've long dreamt of being considered an expert in travel, after reading insightful, original pieces like this one written (or, more exactly, lazily compiled) by the real travel professionals, it makes it clear that our dreams will sadly never be realised.

The HOTTEST destinations for 2023? If you were wondering, they include little known, off the beaten path, up-and-coming cities like Tokyo, New York, Istanbul and Berlin, as well as Medellín* and Bergamo, Italy.

Actually, that's the entire list. Guess when you hit the ball out of the park like this, you only need a half dozen perfect choices for the perfect travel piece. Kudos to the 'travel experts' who came up with this stuff.

And big thanks to Google for recommending this amazing article and putting us in our rightful place as know-nothing amateurs. We'll definitely be following the folks at @travelinglifestyle from now on, so we don't miss a single word they write....

Hottest Cities for 2023 according to travel experts - Berlin

Berlin is another personal favourite, which we also try to visit (at least) once a year - this shot was from a beautiful sunny day back in September 2022

NB: We generally wouldn't make fun of some random crap blog article from a site that literally only exists to copy content from other sites and then SEO optimise it to make money, but Google did trick us into clicking on it, which really makes you question both Google's algorithms and/or how many people actually just enjoy reading crap blog posts that copy content and say nothing original.

*Medellín was a hot choice from publishers like Lonely Planet a few years back (and perhaps deservedly so), but just an FYI, it was one of our least favourite places in Colombia after spending 6 months there last year - with the city centre literally overrun by homeless people openly smoking crack, and the most popular districts overrun by tourists, the worst kinds of expats and the types of establishments who cater to these kinds of people....
