“Super Fucking Chill”

There have been a lot of very meaningful, heartwarming and heart-wrenching posts on Humans of New York over the years, but this one originally posted four year ago might just be our all-time favourite - probably even more so now, although we could use an update:

“I used to be a corporate attorney for Coca-Cola. I worked eighty hours a week. Then one day I asked my boss for a single Friday off and he said ‘no.’ So I left my dog with my brother and flew to Europe. That was ten years ago. It’s been super fucking chill.”
(Barcelona, Spain)

NB: Since virtually all of the comments on this post on our Facebook page ask about the dog and/or point out that this guy is actually an asshole because he left his dog, it should be pointed out that: the guy was working nonstop and most likely lived in an apartment, and gave the dog to his brother.

So without any additional evidence, chances are the dog was happier and better taken care of previously, so it's really a win-win for both man and dog. Or even a win-win-win if you wanna assume the brother has some kids, and they'd always wanted a dog.

In general, if you're gonna assume stuff in life, might as well just go ahead and assume the best possible outcomes (and definitely not the worst), since it will make you happier and it's all conjecture anyway....
