Malaysian Refrigerator Cat

We don't really have any plans whilst visiting friends in Kuala Lumpur for a few days, but yesterday got invited on an impromptu urban safari, and managed to spot this rare species of Malaysian Refrigerator Cat.

Like most animals, they're perfectly adapted to their environment, and as you can see, blend in seamlessly with the native variety of cupboards - we only noticed he was there and were able to serendipitously snap this shot, when a really intense scene from NCIS caught his attention and gave away his position.

These majestic felines were actually an endangered species as recently in the late 1980s, but after several decades of extensive conservation efforts, they're once again flourishing in the greater Klang Valley. So there's some positive news to start your weekend with!

And another fun fact: The local villagers in the surrounding area have nicknamed this one Odie, although as with his domesticated brethren, he seems quite aloof and nonplussed, if not an outright asshole....
