World Book Day 2023
While you can probably guess that we find these ridiculous World ‘Whatever’ Days rightfully ridiculous, since today is World Book Day* and there are only two days left to win a book from us, it seems a good opportunity to seamlessly promote that again.
And what better way to do so than this photo of our current beach library, which came courtesy of Books n Bobs (which sells used books in Malaysia) and Kinokuniya (whose location on the top floor of KLCC Suria is one of our favourite bookstores). Sadly, neither of these fine establishments are sponsoring our book giveaway, but at least that means you know the mention is genuine.

NB: The books here were mainly chosen on the basis of availability, ease of reading and price per page, and weren't intended for public display, or we'd probably have purchased a classier, more sophisticated selection, because deep down we're just as phoney as everyone else....
*This is also the day that UNESCO announces the new World Book Capital for 2025. The title currently belongs to Accra, Ghana, which will be followed by Strausbourg, France next year. And somehow we'd forgot that Kuala Lumpur had the honour back in that blessed year of 2020, despite that ironically being when our love affair with Kinokuniya really caught fire....
